Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB is a joint venture between October 1, 2001 by the Japanese Consumer Electronics Company Sony Corporation and the Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson to make mobile phones. The reason this company is combining the expertise of Sony consumer electronics with Ericsson's technological knowledge in the field of communications. Both companies have stopped making their own mobile phones.







Overall management of the company is based in Hammersmith, London, and has research and development teams in Lund, Tokyo, Mexico City, Beijing and the United States Redwood Shores. In 2009, was the fourth largest handset maker in the world after Nokia, Samsung and sales increased significantly due to LG.The the implementation of the adaptation of the popular Walkman series of Sony Cyber-shot. In 2010, its market share had fallen to sixth place behind Research In Motion and Apple.
